"This is a peated single cask whisky bottling by Sakurao. Distilled in October 2018, and bottled in October 2021. Bottled at 59.6% with an outturn of 189 bottles.
Sakurao 2018 Single Bourbon Cask #5082

The Sakurao Brewery and Distillery Co. was founded in 1918 in the coastal town of Sakurao, Hiroshima. Originally named Chugoku Jozo, they were famed for their Sake production but at the same time were experimenting with single malt whisky. However, like many Japanese distilleries in the 20th century this wasn’t a success, so the company abandoned the practise. It wasn’t until the introduction of new labelling standards to the Japanese whisky industry that Sakurao decided to try again. They released their first malts in 2022.

This whisky was distilled in July 2018 and aged in single first-fill ex-Bourbon cask #5082. It was bottled in August 2022."
